Astons @ ARI: Old friends return.  The  Johnson Family DB5C had been out of our shops and safely sequestered near Racine, WI for ages.  Pictured below left is DB5C/1288/L as it arrived at our shop for restoration circa 1991.  Pictured right is the finished product after our 1992-93 restoration on display and then awarded 1st in class @ The Aston Martin Owners Club National meet in Salisbury, CT, June 1993.   WE then jump forward over 2 ½ decades to find this used & enjoyed family heirloom back in our shop circa fall 2020 to address all the dings, dents & mechanical maladies that crop up over time. Fundamentals are still fine but there is quite a lot to be done.  Apart it comes to address imperfections many of which are too small to be seen in photos per tape markings (below center).

1288L looks a little lonely sitting by our fence on a foggy fall morning – it will soon get needed attentions!:  Right: paint film fit & finish flaws delineated ( really not too much for 26+ years).  Below: we go to work on service needs; brakes & valves 1st.

Early Spring 2021 & we find Aston Martin # 1288L imperfection free having undergone a winter of repair, preparation, with paint now on.

As we go to press: Delivery Promised for Early Summer of the 2021 northern climes classic motoring.  We‘ve got to get things all back together, well tested and “sorted”, a term we use noting that older vehicles can harbor last minute surprises.   Seen here: assembly in process & top underway.
