The Porsche 914 is a common sight at any vintage race event, and with good reason. Its light weight and low center of gravity provide these cars with legendary handling. Even the smaller-engined 4-cylinder variants are loved by enthusiasts and racers alike for their prowess on technical roads or courses and ability to punch above their weight class. The 914-6, a flat 6 cylinder version introduced in 1970, built upon the already impressive performance of the 914 by increasing power output by nearly 40%. The Porsche 911 sourced engine also opened the door to highly competitive race variants, including the Le Mans class-winning 914-6 GT. This 1972 Porsche 914 started life as a 4-cylinder car but was completely converted to -6 specification for racing. It is equipped with a Type 901/36 2.0 flat 6 that has been bored out to 2.2 liters and breaths through a set of Weber 45 IDF carburetors. The engine has approximately 10 hours on the most recent rebuild and sends power through a 901 close-ratio gearbox. The car has been upgraded with aluminum brake calipers, upgraded adjustable suspension, a fuel cell, fire suppression system, and a full roll cage to ensure total compliance with SVRA guidelines. It has been recently tuned, tested, and is ready to compete in the next Group 8 race.
