It all started in February, 2000, with a phone call seeking information.

A Swiss (Graber) bodied MK6 Bentley in Georgia was the subject of Dale Ladner's query. Information turned to advice and a pre-purchase inspection was arranged. Chassis # B189HP was in good (substantially original) condition. Finished in olive, "not-quite British Racing Green" (nor even close for that matter), it was a striking car.

Dales's program was not one of want, cherish then restore. "Lets do it, let's do it right, and let's do it now!" Dale enthused. Purchase, transport to our shop, evaluation and estimate were all accomplished within a month, after which we found ourselves discussing the post-disassembly discovery details.

The photos tell the story. There were some surprises, some sub-standard previous repairs, and, as is often the case, a few minor setbacks. The A.R.I. artisans persevered and the car was finished, tested, sorted, and in Mr. Ladner's Texas garage by late September, 2000. Use and enjoyment by the Ladners followed, until the lure of the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance was sufficient to mandate another truck ride north for B189HP.

The first showing of Mr. Ladner's Graber Bentley was at the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance on Sunday, June 2, 2002. It was awarded a "Best of Show" among some very notable competition. Most importantly, the Ladners had a great weekend enjoying this superb event and all that their vintage Bentley has to offer.

We at Automotive Restorations are thankful for the opportunity and the enjoyment this project provided.
