2003 Mercedes Benz SL500
The SL Class has long been the flagship roadster offering from Mercedes Benz. From the introduction of the iconic 300SL, the SL name has been a testbed for advanced technologies and high-performance engines. The R230 chassis, introduced in 2001, was a great leap forward in comfort, power, and technology. It featured a new Active Body Contol system, a Vario-Roof retractable hardtop, and the introduction of the most powerful engine ever offered in a 2-seat roadster. The R230 was also years ahead of its predecessor in terms of design, utilizing Mercedes' new Computer Aided Virtual Environment process alongside conventional design methods.
This 2003 Mercedes Benz SL500 is finished in Cubanite Silver Metallic over a stunning red leather interior, a striking combination that beautifully highlights the sleek design of the R230. It is highly optioned, with the AMG Design package, Harman Kardon surround-sound system, black ash wood trim with matching steering wheel, and heated and cooled multi-contour seats. The 5.0L V8 engine produces 302 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque, sent to the rear wheels through an automatic AMG Speedshift transmission. The car drives beautifully, with the Active Body Control offering a smooth, supple ride when desired and tight, direct handling when driven spiritedly. This SL has been driven just 41,332 miles and is in fantastic condition inside and out.
