Say the words 2.7 RS to anyone even slightly familiar with the Porsche brand and watch their eyes light up. These are rare and special cars. Originally produced as a run of 500 homologation cars to qualify for Group 4 competition in Europe, the marketing folks at Porsche had wildly underestimated how popular these cars would be and they ended producing just over 1500 examples to meet the fervent demand.

2.7 RS Chassis number 9113601388 is a third series Touring model, produced near the end of the RS production run. We don’t know who the first owner was (we are researching that as we speak), but in 1986 a gentleman named Robert White purchased the car and would own it for the next 26 years. (His previous Porsche was a 906!) Mr. White was something of a savant in the automotive engineering world. He worked for General Motors at one time, he consulted for Alois Ruf’s company RUF Automobile GMBH, and he consulted for the Porsche factory at their development center in Weissach, Germany. To say that the car was in good hands while in his ownership would be a massive understatement. Sometime in the 1990’s Mr. White commissioned a bare metal repaint and that paint is still on the car. There is no corrosion and no damage of any kind to this day. The third, and current, owner purchased the car from Mr. White in 2012, has maintained it to perfection and has enjoyed driving it around upstate Connecticut roads where the car is kept. Prior to Mr. White’s ownership the car was restored, and the restorer ordered all new body panels from the Porsche factory. And at that time the color was changed from Light Yellow to Grand Prix White with red script. Engine and gearbox are original to the car.

There are reams of documentation with the car, mostly from the current owner, which includes the pre-purchase inspection report he ordered from Precision Porsche Service in Spring Grove, Illinois, and the subsequent service work that Precision performed on the car before the owner drove it from Illinois back to the east coast. Recently the car had a documented, comprehensive service performed by Jim Newton’s Automobile Associates of Canton, so it is truly turn-key and ready to enjoy.

Offered at $495,000.00 USD
