1963 Chevrolet Nova SS Convertible
The Nova, originally called the Chevrolet II, was Chevy’s entry into the compact muscle car market. While early models were limited to a 120 I6 engine, the introduction of a more powerful V8 created a true giant-killer. The Nova’s lighter weight and surprising near-50/50 weight distribution gave it a massive advantage over its larger siblings and rivals in terms of both acceleration and handling. This 1963 Chevrolet Nova SS Convertible began life as a genuine Z-code Nova SS convertible, which was a one-year-only combination for 1963. The standard in-line 6 cylinder has been replaced with a period-correct 350 horsepower Chevrolet 327 V8 which is mated to a close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission. The result is a massive amount of power in a small package, capable of out-performing most of the larger muscle cars on the road. The rear end has been replaced with a later Nova SS V8 unit, as have the front hubs. Upgraded brakes sit behind a set of American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels. The entire car has been repainted in Chevrolet Marina Blue with two-toned black and white interior. It is turn-key and ready for the roads ahead!
