Lime Rock Historic Festival #33

We’ve been to almost ALL of these terrific events the Lime Rock organization produces. 2015 continued the tradition nicely with Mercedes-Benz the honored marque. Sir Stirling Moss and the legendary Jochen Mass were there to join in the fun as was Mercedes-Benz SLR 722, Stirling’s Mille Miglia winning ride. Great racing, great cars, great weather, enthusiastic crowds & race Chairman Murray Smith in good form. We were pleased to be a part . Our Thanks to all!!

The VRS paddock was “a-buzz” with a well-planned and continuous series of practice sessions and races all weekend long. All our guys ended shiny side up and running just fine – good job guys!

VRS Shop Manager Brian Rechtiene in his GRD Formula 2 about to crest the hill sandwiched between an S2000 and a Chevron. Brian was quick and consistent all weekend long. Fixin’ and racin’ and making sure we all had a great time!!

VRS racer Richard Kresch campaigned both his Beach (seen on the pole and just behind the pace car), then leading when a throttle cable snapped…oops.

Richard & Royale/Lotus out of turn 1. Spectators enjoyed it all weekend long...

VRS racers father and son Alex and Scott Heckert put their Corvette to the test, blistering the track with NASCAR K&N Series driver son Scott finding a podium or two over the weekend. Fast and Smooth!!

FAST & PRECISE: VRS racer Roger Werner lets it all hang out coming out exiting big bend. Roger was quick all weekend, but various Labor Day weekend commitments made enough track time hard to find.

Tom Brown’s Comeback Continues: Following his Spitfire Racing SCCA to Vintage Debut at Palmer, Tom saddled up VRS’s rental racer Porsche 914-6 and found it just his speed! Tom’s track manners were impeccable to belie his years of SCCA spec Ford racing.

A VINTAGE RACING SERVICES HIGHLIGHT: VRS restored, raced and maintained Spitfires: On Pole, Dave Gussack, right next door, yours truly…just behind Dave and soon to take the lead & the checker is Bill Warner in the mighty ex, Group 44 TR-6. Those Spits nipped at his heels all race & weekend long. The Spits had marginally bested Bill in qualifying races with Dave and Kent each winning one race. Bill sure finished the job on Monday: Great racing guys… good fast clean fun…thanks!!!
